Bhakti Flowers is owned by Chelsea Hohn, Farmer & Florist
For as long as I can remember, I have been creating things out of plants. I made tiny playgrounds with sticks on the beach and houses out of pine trees in my backyard as a child. The outdoor world has always been a comfort for me, and my biggest inspiration. I created Bhakti Flowers out of a love for the natural world, and a belief that one of the most beautiful things that the earth can do is bloom. Sharing that beauty, that marvel, the magic of flowers and plants is what fills my heart and soul.
I grow flowers on about 1,500 square feet at Zingerman’s Cornman Farms, in Dexter, MI. I am drawn to the weird, the wild, the textural and the dried oddities. I also fall victim to the absolute perfection of delicate petals. I grow using what most might consider organic practices, though I am not certified as so. I do not use any synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and I always save a few stems for the bees.
When I’m not farming or designing, you can probably find me practicing and teaching yoga, walking in the woods, caring for my many houseplants, spending time with my partner, and following my cat around.
